Ruh update

Page 11 & 12 are now done.  Which means that row 2 is now done.
This also means that I have completed my yearly goal for Ruh.  Although I will not finish the goals I set for myself this year on stitching, I think moving was a priority and I am giving myself some slack for that.  I am going to continue to work on him at work and hope for faster stitching!

Here he is:
Isn't he beautiful?  I gridded page 13 today and highlighted my next color.  Next Tuesday I will start stitching page 13!  I am so happy that he is looking so good.  Soon he should have eyes!! Woohoo!

Okay, that is it for now.  My hubby's birthday is tomorrow so I am taking a few days off of work to send with him.

Cheers!

A change and some updates

I changed the name on my blog.  It was a suggestion of my hubby.  Yeah, I know that sounds mean but it wasn't meant that way.  At least I don't think so.  Hmm
I am working away on pages 11 and 12 of Ruh.  They are coming along slowly but surely.  I should be done soon I hope and then on to the third row!  I am really looking forward to getting to his face and eyes.
We are still unpacking at the new place.  It is going to be my priority this weekend to get as much done as I can.  I am tired of the boxes and clutter.  It's time to get everything in it's place.  I also would love to have the fireplace clear so that we can enjoy a nice fire place on the cool nights.  (Of course we need to get some firewood too).
Not much else is going on.  I've been busy reading and catching up on SOA.
Dearest Daughter is doing good.  She is going as Day of the Dead for Halloween tomorrow at school and trick or treating at night with her BFF.  I can't fully paint her face for school, so it will look a little off, but it should be okay.  I understand that they want to be able to recognize the children, but there might be some funky costumes going on.

Well, that's it for now.  Hopefully soon I will have an update on Ruh for you!

Page 10 finished!

Just a quick note to show off pages 1-10 of Ruh.  He is looking mighty fine if I do say so myself.  Tomorrow I will grid out pages 11 and 12.  Not much to do on those pages so I am hoping they go rather quickly.

Have a great night everyone!

Wins and Fires and More!

I won a blog contest over at Keebles World and here is what I received!

Sorry the one is sideways, I really don't get why that happens.  So I received all of these in the mail as my winnings!
I started this blog after my hubby and daughters first trip to Disneyland in CA in April of 2012.  I had gone twice before, but it was many many years ago.  My hubby and daughter had a wonderful time.  They loved every single ride and enjoyed themselves to the fullest.  I may have to do a flashback post.  Hmm
Anywho, when I opened this wonderful piece of parcel, the first one to catch my eye was the Pirates.  My hubby LOVED this ride, so I knew right off the bat that this one was going to him.  My dearest daughter decided that she wanted the Off with her head one, as she was the red queen last year for Halloween.  (I do have a post on that, with pics).
The others, (love Tink!), are all mine!  And I will adore then and keep them safe from harm.
So thank you, thank you and thank you again for these wonderful pins.  They are simply precious.

I posted that we had a pretty big fire close by on Mt. Diablo.  Well, Claycord posted an amazing photo yesterday of Mt. Diablo from last year when it had snow and not a month ago when it was on fire.  I give you - "Fire and Ice"

On to stitchy news.  I have been working on Unleashed, or Ruh as I call him.  I am close to another page finish and will post a pic when it is complete.  I am hoping by the end of this week, but it might be early next week.  Not sure right now as I haven't chosen which black portions I am stitching yet.

Have a wonderful day and oh yeah, welcome to Autumn!!!

Fire

Well, usually it is wordless Wednesday, but today I give you the fire that started Saturday afternoon and is now 70% contained with full containment expected on Friday.  This is Mt. Diablo, and as of this morning, the fire is a little over 3000 acres.
I took this pic in a parking lot on Sunday.  No clouds in the sky, that is all smoke.

I think I need to brush up on my photo skills as the other two are by far more showing than mine.
As of this morning, you can't see any smoke from Mt. Diablo, which is great.  I know that each and every person fighting this has done an amazing job.  Seeing the fire at night was a site to behold, but not one I would ever want to see again if that makes any sense.

Also, as this is 9/11/13 - I would like to give my heartfelt thoughts out to all on this anniversary of one of the most tragic events.

Sorry I was MIA (pic heavy)

I have been away for awhile, since March it seems.  A lot has happened it that time.
Just to tell you right off, hardly any stitching has been done, I think I have stitched maybe 10 hours since March, if that.  Why?  Well, that leads me to why I haven't blogged in forever.
1.  Work was busy, and I mean busy.  There wasn't time to eat, much less stitch at lunch.  I rarely took a lunch and if I ate, it was in between calls and orders.
2.  The end of 7th grade for my dear daughter and summer.  We had a great summer although we were not able to go camping or take many trips.
3.  On my birthday, our car died.  We thought it was something small as we were out all day, hadn't had any problems, pulled into the driveway and right before my hubby put it into park, it died.  A month and a half later we got the car back, with a new engine.  You may ask why?  Well if I remember correctly a rod broke off and went into the piston and tore it a new one.  Not something you want.  You may ask how?  They don't know, but apparently this has been happening to these engines.  We tried to get our insurance to cover the cost, but no.  We are still trying to get the maker to pay for some or all of it, but it is a battle.  In closing, it wasn't the greatest birthday present.
4.  While having the car at the shop F.O.R.E.V.E.R. we borrowed a car from my co-worker K.  We had the car for a month.  She and her hubby saved us I will tell you that.  Then we got a rental, a nice convertible 2014 mustang.  Although not meant for a family, we had a great time and took a ride up the coast one weekend.
Our rental car for the Hwy 1 drive

On the road.

A cave we found along one of the beaches off of Hwy 1.

Drive thru tree

She looks beautiful.

Trees along the hwy.

Paul Bunyan at the Trees of Mystery.

An interesting stop along the way.

A cute little cafe/restaurant across from Trees of Mystery.

Those are only a few of the pictures I took of our coast trip.
5.  We then got our car back and took a trip to Monterey.  I love the ocean and all of the creatures that reside in it.  Again, I took a lot of pics, but here are some of the highlights.

After the Aquarium, we took the 17 mile drive.  We had never done it and we stopped at almost every place we could.  I took more pics of course!
The views were spectacular!

We saw a lot of hermit crabs.

A few fat beach squirrels.

Probably one of my favorite stops.

I love this one.

The lighthouse.

Although my hubby thought we were going to die at Pigeon Point, (it is a hostile), we were fine and made it back just fine.
I hope you enjoyed all of the pics.
6.  We moved!  Finally, after wanting to get out of where we were for so long, we moved.  It was a freak thing, as we didn't even have our place up for sale.  It's amazing what can happen when someone stops to ask a question when you are just working in your yard.  Long, long (long) story short, we moved in about 3 weeks.  It was insane and we are still unpacking, but we did it.  And we are all much happier because of it.
7.  Dear daughter started 8th grade.  She chopped off all of her hair, and it looks great!  Then we had it died red with purple highlights.  It really does look amazing.  I will have to d/l a pic and put it up here next time I come here to blog.  (hopefully that won't be too long from now).
8.  Unpacking it tiresome.  We still have quite a bit to do and in between we are having beds delivered, buying new desks and lamps and so on and so on.  It's tiring, but it is worth it.

I think that is it for now, I hope I didn't bore you all!

What's Up?

It's been a bit hasn't it?  Yeah.  It has.  Sorry about that  Life some times gets in the way of all things crafty and stitchy related
First up - my dearest daughter:

She was sick for a whole week.  I stayed home with her for 3 days and then the 4th day her fever jumped up to 103.2 so I took her in to see the doctor.  Although I am glad I took her in and I am glad that she "only has the flu" it bothered me that they couldn't do anything for her.  She is prone to getting strep throat when she gets a cold or flu, so I usually freak over that anyway.  But her throat was fine and she is getting all better now.  This is her the night after going to a concert last week.  Yes.  I am a horrid mom and let my daughter go to a concert on a week night.  She did go to school the next day though.  (She had a great time at the concert btw).
As for the concert.  I think it was Black Veil Brides that she saw.  I believe that soon she will be going to see Mayday Parade and Pierce the Veil.  She gets great grades and is a very good daughter, or she wouldn't be allowed to go to these events.
Secondly - I got a new computer:
Stupid blogger is flippin my pictures around again!  Darn it.  Teach me not to use chrome.  Anywho...  My hubby bought me this case and built up my new computer for me.  When I turn it on, I can't even hear it, it is so quiet.  My old one was so loud, but he is going to work on it and upgrade it and then give it to our daughter.  Hers will become something, I really can't remember what he said.  Some techy geeky thing I'm sure.  LOL!  He is very good with computers, so I leave all of that to him.  I had to work on it at home one morning and couldn't because my work portal wouldn't load up for me.  He fixed that the other night real quick and now I am able to work from home again, which will come in handy this Friday morning!  I do enjoy working from home!
Thirdly - Since the time change, I have been super tired.  Plus my gluten allergy is currently off the charts.  If I even look at a piece of pasta my stomach starts groaning and I start bloating up.  I swear!  Okay, maybe not, but it sure seems like it.  Milk has not been super friendly to me lately either, and I rather enjoy my evening glass of milk.
Fourthly - (is that a word?) - Have you tried teas from Teavana?  My they are wonderful.  I currently have Pineapple Kona Pop with me at work and I am loving the flavor.  It's a nice pick me up in the afternoon with such wonderful scents.  We recently picked up some of the Tranquil Dreams tea and daughter is liking that.  She gets a mug before bed most nights.  I am also putting a ball of .. oh my... um... hold on. Silver Yin Zhen Pearls White Tea.  Sorry, I had to go look at their site.  ha!  Anywho, because the tranquil doesn't have antioxidants in it, I put a pearl into her cup at night and then let it steep for 5 minutes and then pull it out.  It can be reused many times, so this works out great, because the white tea is expensive.
Fifthly - I have been slacking on my stitching.  My TUSAL will hopefully be posted some time this week.  I have no car or home stitching the last month so it is minimal.  Here is where Ruh is currently: (grr, sorry it's sideways...)

I did however just score a new chart.  I used part of my gift certificate that I won a while back.  I purchased Giraffe Silhouette by Annya Kai.  My co-worker K loves giraffe's and when I saw this I knew I had to get it.  I am hoping that it will be a new start soon as it is yelling at me rather loudly!  I might even do it for myself as well.  The colors are amazing.

Well, for now that is all.  I will try to come back soon to post my March TUSAL.

Hodgepodge

It will be all over the place and possibly confusing.  I apologize for that up front!

That right there is deer sausage.  The one on the left is with Jalapenos and Cheese.  The other is a breakfast sausage.  One of the higher ups at work had it made out of a deer he got and offered us some.  This is my haul.  I haven't had deer sausage before, but I am hoping that it is good.  My bunches wants to take some to his co-workers as well.
It's national margarita day!  So make sure you enjoy one!  On the rocks, blended, your choice!
I am hopeful that I will be enjoying one this evening.

You know what that is?  Yo Sushi!  We decided last night to give it a try.  Hubby suggested it.  (What, he doesn't like sushi).  I had spicy tuna and Nigiri (tuna, salmon, hamachi, ebi, unagi, white tuna and tako).  Daughter had california rolls and Nigiri (tuna, salmon, hamachi, ebi and unagi).  Hubby had Teriyaki chicken, beef and 2 pcs of shrimp and a side of shrimp tempura.  And hubby tried my spicy tuna and he liked it.  So now he wants to try more.  Woohoo!  Btw, I really liked this.  I have the leftovers with me today for lunch and I am really looking forward to it.  So fresh and tasty.  Amazing.

I have decided that with the glow in the dark floss I got from Jo, I am going to make a nice little ghost and see if I can do a little ornament.  I have a sewing machine, I have just never used it.  It intimidates me a bit.  I'm not sure why, but it does.  I downloaded a few freebies off of cyberstitches.com and I think they are a good size to start with.

So I mentioned a couple of posts ago about a giveaway that I am going to be doing soon.  A few more details: The giveaway itself will be done in May, (because that is when my birthday is).  The sign ups for the giveaway will begin next month.  You will need to be a follower if you would like to put your name in.  There will be possibilities for you to have multiple entries.
I am getting everything together for the giveaway, (details and such), and as soon as I have it all together I will post it so that everyone can enter if they wish.

I turn 40 in May.  40!  I don't feel like it most days, but some days I do.  I am not sure what I want to do for my birthday yet, but I do want to do something.

Happy Friday everyone!

Wordless (Almost) Wednesday

We don't get snow in these parts, so to see this in the morning and during the day while at work is beautiful.
Behold, Mt. Diablo:
